Sue Irwin-Hunt

The contrasting textures of nature & vibrant abstract themes are encapsulated in Sue’s joyful jewellery & art. As a multi-disciplinary artist she works with a wide range of media with a focus on metal & paint. She is best known for making contemporary jewellery in silver, gold & anodised aluminium as well as pursuing a passion for upcycling making abandoned jewellery & found objects into new designs.

When not employing traditional Silversmiths’ techniques to create wearable art she is busy painting vibrant abstract canvasses for exhibition & quirky watercolour birds for her greeting card range. All work is made in her North London studio, at the jewellery bench or as much as time allows, on the beach in North Cornwall!

Having been a guest for several years at the EFOA Christmas fair she is delighted to now be a full time member & looks forward to seeing you at one of our exhibitions & at our open studio weekends in the Summer.

Everything she makes is inspired by her coastal roots growing up where the Thames estuary meets the North Sea. Treasured memories of this varied & quirky coastline are encapsulated in the spirit & soul of her jewellery & joyful art. The contrast of simple beautiful nature with man-made seaside life is translated as rich texture & bold contrast. The colours, textures & ‘essence’ of coastal life remain constant themes in her work.
