HISTORY
From our creation by five enterprising artists in 2004 East Finchley Open Artists has gone from strength to strength with around 60 members today. We encourage local artists and makers to develop their work and to share ideas and inspire each other through regular meetings, informal workshops, special events and specific interest groups. EFOA is open to all committed creative individuals who make their own work and want to develop their ideas.
WHAT WE DO
We organise exhibitions and selling events. Our summer Open House Weekends have become an East Finchley institution and in 2024 featured over 60 artists in 17 houses.
We hold exhibitions and art fairs at local venues and further afield including one of our most successful at the Barbican Library. Individual members also show both nationally and internationally.
EFOA takes an active interest in local affairs creating projects and organising, or collaborating in, community art activities. We forge links with businesses, shops and schools in the area as well as the nearby Phoenix Cinema, reinforcing a positive perception of East Finchley’s creative community.
CHARITY AND COMMUNITY WORK
Each year we raise money for a chosen charity.
In 2019 we started a fundraising campaign in support of lighting and hanging equipment at the Phoenix Cinema. Go to Charity of the Year to find out more about this project and how to donate.
Find out more about our Community Work for more information on the charities we have supported and our community work.
