CHARITY OF THE YEAR * COMMUNITY

East Finchley Open Artists support the local community through participation in local events, including workshops and support one charity every year.

Our charity of the year in 2024 is

Destitute Asylum Seekers

NNLS Destitute Asylum Seekers Drop in provides much-needed support to asylum seekers and their children, who are often in a desperate situation after fleeing from their home country to escape persecution. We depend entirely on voluntary donations. Our volunteers offer legal signposting, appointments with doctors, nutritious cooked food and a welcoming, warm and friendly space. Every client also receives a supermarket voucher and travel expenses.

Recently we have supported

Wave Café, a project for young people with learning difficulties

Art Against Knives

Phoenix Cinema
Gallery lighting

Whittington Babies

Finchley Youth Theatre, We raised money for FoFYT through donations at events.

Regular Community Activities

  • We often collaborate with schools in our area to foster their artistic activity. We annually donate a prize to the best design and art pupils of the year at the Archer Academy, our local comprehensive school.
  • Each year we have a stall at the East Finchley Community Festival in Cherry Tree Woods and we regularly take part in High Road events.
  • Every year we work with the East Finchley Community Trust and local businesses in putting up and decorating the Christmas tree on the High Road

COMMUNITY

EFOA takes an active interest in local affairs and responds creatively by organising community art activities as opportunities present themselves. Some projects are collaborative, others educational.
