Ann Froomberg

About Ann

I joined EFOA in 2004 and feel very much part of this vibrant and stimulating organisation which has spurred me on to extend my creative horizons into more craft-based disciplines, following my heart without the constraints of the commercial world.

I have been a freelance designer since 1978 after completing a BAHons in printed textile design.

My Work

My work is inspired by my passion for colour and ornament, my love of silk and the transparent qualities of glass.

Encouraged and inspired by belonging to such an interesting and diverse group of fellow creatives, I rediscovered my roots and started hand painting silks, creating various original, unique scarves, ties, cushion covers and more. In 2016 I was introduced to the world of fused glass by fellow EFOA member Pat Marvell and found a direct link with textiles, I love the transparent nature of glass and the diverse effects of overlapping colours. I also delight in the surprise every time I open the kiln after a fusing, you never quite know what will emerge! I now make unique jewellery and small glass objects to add to my colourful repertoire. Recently I have pushed myself out of my comfort zone and dabbled with water colour painting on holiday, I am fascinated by sunlight and shadow..

I am happy to accept commissions. I do not keep all my stock in my Etsy shop, so if you are interested in seeing more of my work please do not hesitate to contact me.

As a textile designer I have been lucky to have enjoyed much success, creating original hand-painted artwork for various surface patterns: printed fashion fabrics, printed/woven furnishing fabrics, giftwrap and packaging. Hopefully my professional ethos and over 40 years of experience has equipped me with the ability to create exciting commercial designs and develop excellent working relationships with clients. Over the years I designed fashion prints for many household names such as Country Casuals, Windsmoor and Jaeger. Recently I have concentrated on designs for household furnishings and am represented by Colwill and Waud Studio. Primarily I hand paint designs but am able to work digitally if required.
