ABOUT ABIGAIL

I’m a mixed media and intuitive artist based in North London. My practice is rooted in process and emotional honesty—I’m interested in the layers we carry, both personally and collectively, and how art can help uncover what often sits beneath the surface. I explore themes of change, identity, memory, freedom, and connection to nature.

As a solo mother of two, motherhood is part of what shapes my perspective and influences my work. It informs how I make time for creativity and how I reflect on the everyday, and the somewhat chaotic realities of care, resilience, and shifting identity.

I work across canvas, paper, and art journals, using a wide range of materials and techniques. I also have a background in acting and facilitation, which continues to influence how I approach storytelling through image, texture, and movement. When I’m not in the studio, I recharge by spending time in nature,  unwinding with my boys and our pet cat, playing music, or simply slowing down.

MY WORK

My art is layered, exploratory and lead by intuition. I often don’t have a fixed outcome, responding instead to emotion, memory, or the energy of the moment. I build up layers with paint, collage, found or natural materials—then scrape back, tear, or remove parts to reveal hidden textures and traces beneath. It’s a process of uncovering and reworking, like a visual form of hide and seek.

I enjoy working across canvas, paper, and art journals, and I’m drawn to the variety that mixed media allows. Themes in my work often touch on personal transformation, freedom, identity, and the shifting patterns of nature and life. There’s also an underlying thread of storytelling—images and symbols that feel like fragments of something remembered, or not yet fully understood.

I believe in making art that holds space for both the raw and the tender, the messy and the still. My work explores the ongoing dance between holding on and letting go, between what’s revealed and what stays hidden.
