EFOA at the East Finchley Festival

EFOA takes an active interest in local affairs and responds creatively by organising community art activities as opportunities present themselves. Some projects are collaborative, others educational.

Each year we support a local charity.

Pheonix Cinema

In 2019 we started a fundraising campaign in support of lighting and hanging equipment at the Phoenix Cinema. See EFOA Charity of the Year to find out more about this project and how to donate.

LOCAL CHARITY EVENT

On Sunday 13th September 2020, Mary Poulter (willow work) and Hazel Mason (ceramics) held an event which raised nearly £1,400 for a number of charities.

It was held outdoors, was masked, sanitised and socially distanced, and no money or cards changed hands! It was a sale built on trust and good will. Neighbours and friends chose a piece or two, went home and contributed to the charity of their choice. All donations were then confirmed to the organisers after the “sale”. A total of 23 charities benefited.

The sale was held as a way to keep creating and contributing while respecting restrictions during the corona virus outbreak. Brysons, the East Finchley Printers, donated the printed leaflets.

Ambitious About Autism

We raised funds for them for a couple of years, through donations at our Winter Art Fairs in their Treehouse School halls.

REGULAR COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

  • EFOA collaborates with the Hampstead Garden Suburb Artists group.
  • We often collaborate with schools in our area to foster their artistic activity. We annually donate a prize to the best design and art pupils of the year at the Archer Academy, our local comprehensive school.
  • Each year we have a stall at the East Finchley Community Festival in Cherry Tree Woods and we regularly take part in High Road events.
  • Every year we work with the East Finchley Community Trust and local businesses in putting up and decorating the Christmas tree on the High Road
