About Lucy
Born into an arty family, I was a rebellious punk teenager in 1970's London.
At college, I studied Arts and Crafts experimenting with different mediums and specialising in sculpture.
I trained in floristry and designed weekly hotel floral displays, wedding banquet flowers and bouquets.
Silk painting appealed to me for its innate beauty and I learnt the techniques with Tony Wigg at Garden Suburb Institute and later Hampstead School of Art.
Previously, I had a long legal career and still volunteer for IPSEA, a charity that gives legal advice to parents of children with SEND to access education.
I have lived in Finchley with my husband and 2 sons for 20 years.

My Work
I mainly use French acid steam set dyes with the traditional Serti Gutta resist technique, alcohol and water.
I love working with vibrant colour pallets and experimenting with different resist techniques to achieve diverse effects, giving movement, texture and flow to my work.
Currently, I am developing techniques using organic mineral pigments in my work.
Painting on the delicate texture of silk brings an ethereal and emotional effect to my work. I like to focus on the mind body connection with the universe and the natural world.
