Caitlin Smail
Mixed Media, Painting, Photography

About Caitlin
The themes of my artistic work centre largely on memories and dreams. I work in a variety of mixed media from painting and collage to photography. Recently I have exploring the ancient art of encaustic wax to add luminosity and depth to my images.
I also practice as an Art Psychotherapist working with adults and young people at my studio based in North London.

My Work
In my artwork I use found imagery, objects and text, along with a combination of other media to explore the themes of memory, innocence and loss... often creating unexpected assemblages, which invite viewers to create their own narratives.
Since 2001, I have organised, curated and participated in a number of group exhibitions, as well as having six solo shows (2002, 2003, 2006, 2008, 2015 and 2016) with work ranging from painting and photography to installation.
