East Finchley Open Artists are a diverse and multi-disciplinary group of artists and craftspeople, both professional and amateur, from the East Finchley area of north London.

Each year EFOA collects for and donates to a local charity.

In 2019, we chose to support The Phoenix Cinema.

The Phoenix Cinema opened in 1912 and has been run by a charitable trust since 1985. It is London’s oldest continuously running, purpose-built cinema.

We are raising funds for a new gallery hanging system and lighting.

We regularly exhibit in the cinema gallery. In cooperation with the Phoenix Cinema we are fundraising for major improvements to the lighting and hanging of artwork on the gallery wall.

The new lighting will transform the display of artwork, enhancing exhibitions for exhibitors and cinema visitors.

A preliminary scheme has been produced by a lighting manufacturer using the latest high efficiency LED lighting which will give a uniform light level for art exhibitions.

A new hanging system will also improve the process of mounting a display.

The scheme will cost around £2,500.

EFOA kick-started the process with a £500 donation.

We are asking all friends of East Finchley Open Artists and Phoenix Cinema patrons to support this project with us. We also expect all artists who exhibit at the cinema throughout the year to contribute to the lighting fund.

  • We welcome all donations, for example £10 will go towards the new picture hanging system £90 will sponsor a section of lighting track and £180 for a light fitting. All sponsors will be acknowledged on our website.
  • You can donate to EFOA bank account Acc. sort code 40-05-07 - Acc. number 41502972 – state PHOENIX.
