This piece has been made on the wheel. The carves are deep and precise, making the process of building it very delicate but once is fired, it has all the strength that fired ceramics have. Raku is my favourite firing technique as it is completely unpredictable but always produce the most fantastic earthy colours resulting from the oxides used on the glazes. The most wonderful alchemy of colours is created once the ceramics are deprived of oxygen.
