HAB Support Officers provide advice and support to help people overcome housing problems and to help rough sleepers gain access to temporary accommodation. HAB provides practical support through meals\, showers and laundry facilities\, accessing medical help\, well-being workshops and signposting people to other relevant support services. \nOur artists have donated original works at reserve prices that are in all cases much lower than gallery or retail prices. 100% of proceeds will go to support Homeless Action in Barnet. \nTake a look at the items below and to bid\, simply click on the image and follow the instructions. \nArtists will arrange collection or delivery to local buyers. Reserve prices exclude any postal costs. \nThe highest bidder will be notified and will be asked to pay the artist within 48 hours of notification. In the event of non-payment\, the item will be automatically offered to the second-highest bidder. SUMMARY:Northern Line Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]For their next HLSI exhibition ‘The Northern Line’\, East Finchley Open Artists are creating images that relate to a Northern Line station of their choice. Each work will respond to the chosen station’s name\, and artists have already selected a wide range of Northern Line stations for inspiration including Colliers Wood\, Oval\, Angel and High Barnet. Expect some interesting interpretations and commentary! The exhibition will comprise an exciting variety of wall-hung work including paintings\, pastels\, prints ceramics\, glass\, textiles and automata. \nAll artists have prepared new works specially for the exhibition. Among them\, Pat Marvell has created an exciting glass piece titled ‘White hot embers in Colliers Wood’ which was originally the site of charcoal-making kilns. Laura Fishman has made an abstract acrylic painting\, ‘Golders Green\, Green to Gold’\, exploring the richness of greens and yellows mingling with swirls of red which hint at the richness of the foliage of the nearby Golders Green Park. Meanwhile\, Cathy Burkinshaw has chosen Woodside Park as one of her inspirations. Members reacted very differently to the change in their lives\, for some this was a very productive period\, for others it shut down the creative juices. Some have made specific work\, some not. DESCRIPTION:[vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Despite the pandemic\, six artists: Five EFOA artists: Dawn Finn (printmaker)\, Ann Froomberg (silk painter and fused glassmaker)\, Pat Marvell (glass artist)\, Jo Pethybridge (ceramicist) and Diana Stoker (painter and collage artist) with guest Margaret Thompson (painter) were able to collaborate to create the exciting exhibition “Six Ways with Colour”. The venue had been booked prior to the Covid outbreak and the artists were delighted that the gallery was able to open to accommodate their event. SUMMARY:Climate Change is Real

We know that safe limits of greenhouse gas emissions have already been exceeded\, entire ecosystems have been destroyed and over a million species are threatened with extinction. The daunting concept of climate change can be hard to process emotionally; it’s easy to be overwhelmed when confronted with a plethora of scientific statistics. It causes unbearable discomfort that we naturally recoil from. We can’t always see beyond the short term. Artists can help us to envisage\, experience and make ‘real’ that which is hard to come to otherwise contemplate. \nThis exhibition aims to explore ideas about climate change – its causes and effects. Working in a variety of media\, EFOA artists were asked to address issues of rising temperatures\, pollution\, natural disasters\, rising sea levels and diminishing resources. \nAs one exhibitor says: ‘Nature is threatened at every turn by mankind’s stupidity and yet day by day I witness its enduring power to survive.
